Sweet Charlie Biography

Ranked #8 Beatport Breakbeat artist in 2017, Sweet Charlie has dropped beats with some of the biggest names in breaks including Simply Jeff, Huda Hudia, DJ Icey, Deekline and more. Only three months after he began spinning records he was booked to perform at Orbit Nightclub with Simply Jeff and Resident Alien. He brings a unique style and excitement to the turntables by seamlessly mixing a diverse blend heavy bass, beautiful melody lines, dirty synths, and angelic vocals into a landscape of crescendos and decrescendos that keep the dance floors packed. Sweet Charlie brought you “I Wanted You” & “Up All Night,” and in only two years with Kaleidoscope Music quickly ascended from unranked to the now #7 artist on the breaks charts. His production and involvement helped bring home the Album of the Year Award for Kaleidoscope Records last year.

Holding a residency at Club Chill in West Palm Beach in 2001 along with Scratch-D (Dynamix II), H-Bomb and B-Minus, Sweet Charlie started out on Thursday nights and was quickly added to the Saturday night rotation. From that time on, he began performing at venues like Club 5, Blue Martini, Emerald City, X-it, Sonar, Deluxe, Le Cabaret and the list goes on. It was then that Sweet Charlie met and opened for his heroes, forming long lasting relationships that led to collaborations and ultimately chart-topping releases. He held residencies at Club 109, Ovation, Ohm, Ray's, Sky Lounge, Spanky's, and the Red Room, and spun at numerous parties for Culture Music and the Hazmat Crew in Miami.

Rising star Sweet Charlie started his house and electronica label Modern Beat Digital in 2008, where (under the alias Modern Beat Orchestra), his debut EP “Children of the Beat,” received international radio play. In 2009 he submitted a single from the EP for critique at an A&R workshop at Winter Music Conference, impressing one panelist so much that he hired Sweet Charlie as a producer. The panelist was no other than Chicago and UK house icon Darryl Pandy.

Sweet Charlie found his home with Kaleidoscope Music in 2016, where he partnered with long-time friend and mentor, Huda Hudia. Since then Sweet Charlie has released over a dozen top ten singles, while branching out for collaborative releases on DogEatDog, Gigabeat, and more.

Raised by a musically gifted family, Sweet Charlie began piano, classical percussion and drum lessons at the age of eight. He attended a performing arts high school and won full music scholarships to several universities in Florida. His background not only enriched his taste for music, it provided a sonic foundation to build his own sound and style.

Sweet Charlie connects with tomorrow’s generation of bass fans by fusing elements of big room, future bass, and trap with the breakbeat rhythms that got him hooked years ago.
